Student Life

College life is more than just classes and studying - it's also about learning to live in a diverse community. Maybe it starts in a residence hall, where you’ll get your own piece of Maryland to call home. Or maybe it starts on an intramural sports team, where you’ll travel to other universities and compete in sports from Aikido to Ultimate Frisbee. Our award-winning, convenient dining options cater to both gourmands and grab-it-and-go eaters. After taking some time to digest by relaxing next to our Olympic-sized pool, you can sweat your stresses away at our state-of-the-art Eppley Recreation Center. Feel free to sign up for a therapeutic massage at the Center for Health and Wellbeing or just take a breather under a shady oak tree. You’ll need your rest before deciding how many of our over 500 student organizations to get involved in!

Student life at the University of Maryland extends well beyond our campus borders. Through our President's Promise, we pledge to offer every student the opportunity for a unique experience outside the classroom that complements their curriculum and sparks personal growth. These opportunities can include internships, hands-on research, study abroad or living and learning programs. Our location, just outside Washington, D.C., gives students unmatched access to government agencies, research centers, international embassies, think tanks, nonprofit organizations and the policymakers who help shape the world.

With so many services at your fingertips, could there be any better place to live (and learn) the college life than Maryland?
