Factors to Consider

Here are some factors to consider when your high school student is applying to the University of Maryland:

  1. What is the difference between the December 1 and January 20 deadlines?

December 1st is our priority deadline. High School Students interested in entering in the Fall semester are encouraged to submit PART I of the application by November 1st and PART II of the application by December 1st. Applying by the priority deadline means that students will have priority consideration for admission, merit scholarships and special academic programs. This is not early action or early decision.  Admission decisions will be released mid-February to those who applied by the priority deadline, and the student has until May 1st to confirm.  Those who apply by January 20 with have a decision by April 1.  Applications received after January 20 will be reviewed on a space-available basis.
