Scholarships Available to entering Transfer students

Transfer Academic Excellence Scholarship

This two-year scholarship covers the cost of tuition and is awarded for study beginning in the fall. Maryland community college students who have completed 56 or more credits or an Associate of Arts degree and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better may apply for this award. Applications may be obtained by clicking the link below or from a Maryland community college. The application deadline for 2008 is March 1, 2008. Students who are selected for an interview will be notified towards the end of April and final decisions will be released in mid-May.

Weinberg Regents Scholarship

The Weinberg Regents Scholarship is awarded to Maryland community college transfer students who have achieved a 4.0 grade point average, gained an Associate of Arts degree and earned admissions to one of the University System of Maryland Institutions. Presidents Transfer Scholarship

This scholarship is a two-year $5,000 per year tuition scholarship.  Students do not have to fill out a separate application to be considered as they will be evaluated based on their application to the University of Maryland.  The scholarship will be awarded to the most competitive transfer students with the strongest academic records and college grade point averages.  Students who are awarded the scholarship will receive notification by mail about two weeks after they receive their letter of admission.

Scholarship Searches

A broad range of scholarships are also available from private sources, and students are encouraged to conduct a scholarship search to locate these additional sources to assist with this search, the Office of Student Financial Aid maintains links to several free scholarship searches on the Web at www.financialaid.umd.edu. You should also check the local library, school, church, union, business and other associations to which you or members of your family have connections.
