Complete the Application for Undergraduate Admission.
You may Apply Online, download a pdf or request a paper application by clicking on the Request Information Button to the right.
Submit a nonrefundable application fee of $55 with your application. If you apply on the web you may pay online with a credit card or be billed by the University separately. Our website is protected by Verisign. If you choose to complete the paper application you may mail your non-refundable application fee (payable to the University of Maryland) to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Please include the student's name and birth date on the check. We accept the following credit cards: Visa, Mastercard and Discover. We regret that we cannot honor debit cards or cash.
Request that an official copy of all of your college transcripts be sent directly to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions by the registrar(s) of all former college(s). A final official transcript must also be sent upon completion of any courses in progress. The University of Maryland accepts transfer credits taken only from regionally accredited institutions. The acceptance of credit will be determined by Maryland's Transfer Credit Center after an offer of admission is extended. Students with any non-U.S. academic credentials must provide them in the original language with a certified English translation.
Please note that all offers of admission are contingent on satisfactory completion of any work in progress between the time of the application and the time of enrollment.
If you have completed fewer than 30 semester or 45 quarter hours, request an official copy of your high school transcript, as well as official SAT I and/or ACT scores be sent to the University of Maryland, College Park by the Educational Testing Service (SAT I code for Maryland is 5814) or the ACT Program (ACT code for Maryland is 1746).
Optional: You are encouraged to submit a personal statement describing why you wish to transfer to Maryland at this time and explaining academic challenges and/or future goals.
Optional: Submit a resume or statement of academic and extracurricular activities.
If you are a non-native English speaker (regardless of citizenship), you must verify your proficiency in English. Scoring 480 or higher on the critical reading section of the SAT I or completing the Associates of Arts (A.A) degree exempts you from this requirement. Transfer credit for an English composition course does not waive the English proficiency exam. All others should have an official report of your scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) sent directly to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
International students: Please see additional instructions for international transfer students.
Several programs at Maryland have more competitive admission requirements beyond the University's general admission requirements, and have limited space. These Limited Enrollment Programs have specific "gateway" requirements for admission and determine their enrollments on a space available basis. These programs include Architecture, Business, Communication, Education, Engineering, Government and Politics, Journalism, Landscape Architecture and Psychology.
