Financial Aid and Tuition/Fees

Financing your Maryland education is the next step.  In order to be considered for need-based financial aid –including loans, grants, scholarships and Federal Work-Study for Fall 2009, you should complete a 2009-2010 FAFSA.  To be considered for priority financial aid please make sure that you file the FAFSA by February 15, 2009.  Financial aid is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis; however, if you have missed the February 15 priority deadline, we recommend that you complete and submit the FAFSA as soon as possible.

Students admitted as freshmen who have already applied for financial aid for the Fall 2009 will be able to check their Financial Aid Status online by April 1, 2009.  Students will be notified by email and asked to check this site once financial aid has been awarded, or if there are additional documents required.

Students admitted as freshmen and transfer students for the Spring 2010 semester should complete a 2009-2010 FAFSA.  Financial aid awarding for these students will begin April 2009 and continue throughout the Fall 2009 term.

Applying for Financial Aid- The FAFSA

The FAFSA is available at high school guidance offices, college or university financial aid offices, the web at fafsa.ed.gov, and via mail by calling 1-800-4FED.AID.  When completing the FAFSA please make sure hat you list the University of Maryland, College Park.  Our federal school code is 002103.  The FAFSA requests data from 2008 Federal Income Tax returns.  If these returns are not completed by our priority deadline, you should report estimated tax figures on your FAFSA.  After your FAFSA has been processed you will have the opportunity to correct your estimates if necessary.

The Financial Aid Award Guide provides details regarding the types of financial aid available, and what you must do to apply.
